Introduction
The Infineon KIT_PSC3M8_EVK is an evaluation kit for the PSOC Control C3 Performance Line, built around the PSC3M8GFS3PAHQ1 microcontroller. It provides a board-level environment for evaluating PSC3M8 MCU capabilities, with onboard programming and debugging, communication access, and expansion options integrated into the kit.
The board is intended for development with Infineon ModusToolbox software and includes a USB-A to USB Type-C cable along with jumper wires for initial setup and prototyping.
What it does
The KIT_PSC3M8_EVK gives developers access to many of the onboard PSC3M8 MCU features through its connectors, communication interfaces, and interface headers. An integrated KitProg3 programmer/debugger supports programming and debug workflows without requiring a separate external debug probe.
A USB Type-C device interface provides a direct board connection, while power can be supplied through USB, a DC jack, or an Arduino-compatible connection. The kit also includes a CAN FD interface for evaluating CAN FD communication on the development platform.
For hardware expansion, the board provides two 40-pin expansion headers and Arduino Uno R3-compatible headers. These interfaces allow external circuits, modules, or prototype hardware to be connected while working with the PSC3M8 MCU.
Applications
- Early hardware and firmware evaluation of PSOC Control C3M8 PSC3M8 microcontrollers
- ModusToolbox-based embedded software development and debugging
- CAN FD interface evaluation and communication prototyping
- Arduino Uno R3-compatible shield and peripheral experimentation
- Connecting custom prototype circuitry through the 40-pin expansion headers
- MCU feature evaluation using onboard connectors and interface headers
Design considerations
The integrated KitProg3 debugger is a central part of the development setup, reducing the need for a separate programmer/debugger during evaluation. The board’s USB Type-C device interface is supported by the included USB-A to USB Type-C cable.
Power-source selection should be considered during integration, as the kit can be powered from USB, a DC jack, or Arduino connections. Designers using external hardware should also account for the board’s two 40-pin expansion headers and Arduino Uno R3 header compatibility when selecting prototypes, modules, or shield-style expansions.
The available CAN FD interface makes the board relevant where CAN FD connectivity is part of the intended evaluation, while the supplied jumper wires support basic interconnection during bring-up.
