PBA22 Pushbutton Switches

Introduction

E-Switch’s PBA22 series is a modular, panel-mount pushbutton switch family built around a standard 22 mm panel cutout. The series combines a flat actuator with separate contact-block functionality, offering a practical interface option where a durable, serviceable front-panel control is needed. SPST and DPST contact configurations are available, along with a specified electrical life of 500,000 cycles.

What it does

PBA22 pushbutton switches provide a manually actuated electrical switching function for equipment panels and enclosures. Their modular contact-block construction supports switch configurations ranging from SPST to DPST, while the flat actuator is suited to compact control-panel layouts.

The switches use 0.110 in quick-connect terminals for wiring and are rated for contacts carrying up to 1.5 A at 24 VDC. The series specifies a maximum contact resistance of 50 mΩ, dielectric strength of 600 VAC, and minimum insulation resistance of 100 mΩ.

Mechanical integration is based on a 22 mm panel opening and support for panel thicknesses from 1 mm to 6.00 mm. The stated actuator travel is 5.3 mm. IP65 and IP20 moisture-protection ratings are listed for the series, allowing designers to account for protection requirements at the relevant portions of the installed switch assembly.

Design considerations

The 22 mm cutout and panel-thickness range should be checked against the target enclosure before layout is finalized. A mounting-nut torque of 0.5 Nm is specified, which is relevant when defining assembly procedures.

Electrical designers should account for the 1.5 A at 24 VDC contact rating and select the required SPST or DPST contact arrangement. The 0.110 in quick-connect termination can simplify harness connections, but mating terminal compatibility and available internal panel clearance should be considered.

For environmental integration, the stated IP65 and IP20 ratings should be evaluated in the context of the finished product enclosure and the area of the switch to which each rating applies.
