Introduction
Advantech’s EAI-3931 is a dual-slot PCIe GPU accelerator card built around the Intel Arc Pro B60 GPU. It combines 24 GB of GDDR6 memory with 160 Intel XMX engines, positioning it for compatible edge-computing systems that need AI acceleration, professional graphics, and video-processing capability in an add-in card format.
The card uses a PCIe Gen5 x8 electrical interface in a PCIe x16 form factor, while offering four DisplayPort 2.1 outputs for multi-display and high-resolution graphics installations. Its specified maximum resolution is 7680 × 4320.
What it does
The EAI-3931 adds GPU compute and graphics resources to an edge platform through a PCIe slot. Its Intel Arc Pro B60 GPU operates at 2.4 GHz and is specified for up to 197 TOPS of INT8 performance and 12.28 TFLOPS of FP32 performance.
For memory-intensive graphics and compute workloads, the card provides 24 GB of GDDR6 memory with 456 GB/s of memory bandwidth. It supports Vulkan 1.3, DirectX 12, OpenGL 4.6, and OpenCL 3.0, providing support for graphics and compute software built around those APIs.
The four DisplayPort 2.1 interfaces enable direct connection of multiple displays. Video codec support includes AV1, VP9, H.265 HEVC, and H.264 AVC, extending the card’s role to systems that work with modern encoded video formats.
Applications
Potential uses that follow from the card’s capabilities include:
- Edge AI inference systems using INT8-optimized workloads
- Professional graphics workstations and visualization platforms
- Multi-display industrial or operational interfaces using DisplayPort 2.1
- Video-processing systems handling AV1, VP9, H.265 HEVC, or H.264 AVC content
- PCIe-based edge computers requiring GPU compute through OpenCL, Vulkan, DirectX, or OpenGL software environments
- High-resolution display systems supporting up to 7680 × 4320 output
Design considerations
The EAI-3931 is a dual-slot card measuring 112 mm × 289 mm × 42 mm, so the target host system needs sufficient physical clearance as well as an available PCIe x16 mechanical slot. Although the card has a PCIe Gen5 x8 electrical interface, its specified board form factor is PCIe x16.
Power and thermal integration are also important. The card has a maximum power consumption of 200 W and requires a PCIe 8-pin power connector. Cooling is provided by an active blower-fan design, and the specified operating temperature range is 0°C to +45°C. System enclosure airflow should therefore be considered alongside the card’s own active cooling arrangement.
Supported operating systems are Windows 10 64-bit, Windows 11, and Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. Software deployment should also account for the graphics or compute API required by the intended application.
