TactSure™ LS is a family of IP67-sealed, low-current SMT tactile switches with a hard actuator and extended cage.
Introduction
C&K Switches’ TactSure™ LS Series is a family of surface-mount tactile switches for low-current signal switching. The momentary, normally open SPST devices combine an IP67-sealed structure with a 4.9 mm hard actuator and extended cage, addressing interfaces that need a tactile input component with environmental sealing and reflow-compatible assembly.
What it does
TactSure LS switches provide a momentary contact closure: pressing the actuator closes the normally open SPST contact, while releasing it returns the switch to its open state. They are intended for low-current circuits, with a specified operating range of 2 VDC to 24 VDC and 0.1 mA to 10 mA, and a maximum power rating of 0.2 VA.
The series uses a hard 4.9 mm actuator and is specified for low sound operation. Two operating-force options, 5.5 N and 6.8 N, allow a design to select between the available actuation characteristics. Contact bounce is specified at 1 ms maximum, while contact resistance is specified at 100 mΩ maximum.
Its sealed IP67 construction is a notable feature for tactile-switch applications where protection against dust and water ingress is relevant. The switches are also specified across a wide operating-temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.
Applications
Potential uses that follow from the series’ low-current, sealed tactile-switch design include:
- User-input buttons in medical equipment
- Control and interface panels in industrial equipment
- Input switches in semiconductor equipment
- Surface-mount control boards requiring a momentary, normally open tactile input
- Compact equipment interfaces where IP67 sealing is required
Design considerations
The TactSure LS Series is supplied in a 6.2 mm × 6.2 mm SMT package with J-bend terminals, so PCB footprint and actuator clearance should be considered during mechanical layout. Its surface-mount construction is compatible with JEDEC reflow soldering profiles, supporting standard reflow-based assembly processes.
These switches are intended for low-current signal functions rather than higher-power load switching. Designs should remain within the stated 2–24 VDC, 0.1 mA–10 mA, and 0.2 VA limits. Electrical isolation characteristics include dielectric strength of at least 250 VRMS at 50 Hz and insulation resistance of at least 1000 MΩ at 100 V.
