Schneider ElectricTCC-2026-10-06-altivar-ath600-variable-speed-drives
Altivar ATH600 is a variable-speed-drive series for HVAC motor and pump applications, supporting synchronous and asynchronous motors from 0.75 kW to 250 kW.
Introduction
Schneider Electric’s Altivar ATH600 is a variable-speed-drive series for HVAC motor and pump systems. Covering motor ratings from 0.75 kW to 250 kW, the range supports three-phase synchronous and asynchronous motors and combines motor-control, pump-monitoring, and integrated logic-programming functions. Its communications and I/O complement make it suited to equipment that must connect with building or plant control systems.
What it does
ATH600 drives regulate the speed of compatible three-phase motors used in HVAC equipment and pump applications. The series is intended for systems including chillers, air-handling units, cooling towers, heat pumps, fans, compressors, and condensers.
The drives support Modbus serial and BACnet MS/TP communications, providing options for integration with supervisory HVAC and building-management controls. Local control and monitoring connections include six digital inputs, three analog inputs, two analog outputs, three relay outputs, and two safe-torque-off (STO) inputs.
Motor support varies by wave version. Wave 1.1 supports three-phase induction motors and permanent-magnet synchronous motors, while Wave 1.2 adds SynRM motor compatibility. The series also supports A2L refrigerant applications; A3 refrigerant compatibility is specified for drives up to 18.5 kW.
Applications
- Variable-speed fan control in air-handling units and ventilation equipment
- Pump control for HVAC water or fluid-circulation systems
- Chillers, cooling towers, and heat-pump installations
- Compressor and condenser motor control
- BACnet MS/TP or Modbus-connected HVAC equipment panels
Design considerations
Select the drive around the motor type, required power rating, and applicable ATH600 wave version. The range spans 0.75 kW to 250 kW, while the optional IP55 protection degree is available from 0.75 kW to 90 kW; the standard protection degree is IP20/00 across the stated power range.
For system integration, account for the available digital, analog, relay, and STO I/O alongside the Modbus serial and BACnet MS/TP interfaces. Projects involving refrigerants should also check the stated refrigerant compatibility and the 18.5 kW limit for A3 applications. The series is specified as compliant with IEC 61000-3-12 harmonics requirements.
