Designers of medical and industrial equipment are under constant pressure to deliver more power in smaller enclosures without compromising safety or noise performance. That challenge grows harder as systems become more compact and acoustic noise targets get stricter for patient comfort or operator environments.
TDK-Lambda has expanded its CUS-M family with the new 1200 W-rated CUS1200M, a series designed to deliver high power in a compact, low-profile package while meeting the demanding isolation and EMI requirements of medical and industrial standards.
High Power in a Compact Format
The new supply measures just 187 × 93 mm with a profile of 42.5 mm, allowing it to fit in tight enclosures. It delivers full rated power from 90 VAC input and is available with 24 V, 36 V, and 48 V outputs. A 5 V, 2 A standby rail is provided as standard, along with remote on/off, remote sense, and power-good signalling to simplify system integration.
Quiet Operation and High Efficiency
The CUS1200M uses a variable-speed fan that keeps audible noise as low as 30 dBA at 20 % load and just 42 dBA at full output, a significant benefit in medical or broadcast equipment where low noise is critical. Efficiency is up to 95.5 %, reducing internal heating and improving long-term reliability. In standby, the supply draws less than 0.6 W, helping designers meet stringent energy-saving requirements.
Built for Safety-Critical Systems
Isolation ratings include 4000 VAC input-to-output (2 × MoPP), 2000 VAC input-to-ground (1 × MoPP), and 1500 VAC output-to-ground (1 × MoPP), supporting B- and BF-rated medical applications. Leakage current is kept below 250 µA, and the unit carries certifications to IEC/EN/ES 60601-1 and IEC/EN/UL 62368-1. It also meets EN 55011-B and EN 55032-B conducted and radiated EMI limits and complies with EN 61000-3-2 harmonics and IEC 60601-1-2 Edition 4 immunity standards.
Reliable Operation Across Conditions
The supply operates from –20 °C to +70 °C with linear derating at higher temperatures and is rated for up to 5000 m operating, transport, and storage altitude. A five-year warranty backs the series for long-term deployments.
With its combination of compact size, quiet operation, high efficiency, and full medical and industrial approvals, the CUS1200M gives engineers a ready-made solution for systems that need reliable, low-noise power delivery without designing a custom supply.
