YAGEO Launches Multi Band SharkFin Antennas for Connected Vehicles

Uploaded image Modern fleets and emergency vehicles rely on a growing mix of wireless links, from broadband data to GNSS navigation and dedicated land mobile radio channels. Bringing all of these technologies into a single enclosure without compromising signal quality or installation simplicity has become a real design challenge. YAGEO’s new SKF5G72311DMWxxx SharkFin antenna series approaches this problem by combining 5G, LTE, Wi Fi 6E and Wi Fi 7, multi band GNSS and a dedicated VHF or UHF LMR whip into a compact rooftop module that mounts directly to the vehicle.

Multi Band Architecture for Parallel Connectivity

The series supports parallel operation across commercial cellular networks, high capacity Wi Fi, multi band GNSS and LMR channels used by public safety and utility fleets. Each unit provides 2x2 MIMO for 5G FR1 and LTE, 3x3 MIMO for Wi Fi 6E and Wi Fi 7, and active GNSS elements covering L1, L2 and L5 with a 28 to 33 dB LNA for low noise, fast acquisition and stable tracking under dynamic conditions. A single band LMR whip, selectable across several frequency options, allows operators to match the antenna to regional communications systems without redesigning the housing. With coverage from 150 MHz to 7.1 GHz, the SharkFin architecture supports broadband data, navigation and critical voice channels simultaneously.

Rugged Rooftop Integration Without External Hardware

One of the more practical aspects of the SKF5G72311DMWxxx series is its compact direct mount design. The enclosure fits between typical SUV and commercial vehicle roof ribs and does not need an external ground plane, adapter plate or gasket. A UV stable, automotive grade PC housing with IP67 sealing protects the internal RF structures from water, dust, sun exposure, vibration and thermal cycling. This reduces the mechanical complexity usually associated with multi band antenna systems, especially when fleets must operate across a wide range of climates and environmental conditions. The 193 x 52.5 x 63.8 mm footprint also simplifies replacement and standardisation across different vehicle platforms.

Support for High Throughput and Real Time Services

The antenna’s 617 to 5925 MHz cellular support enables reliable 5G FR1 data paths for telemetry, OTA firmware updates, camera offloading and cloud connected diagnostics. The 2400 to 7125 MHz Wi Fi range supports next generation Wi Fi 6E and Wi Fi 7 throughput for high density vehicle environments, depot networks and edge access points. Multi band GNSS coverage improves accuracy for fleet tracking, dispatch services and autonomous navigation layers where fast reacquisition is essential after signal obstruction. The LMR whip maintains compatibility with established public safety and utility networks, which remain critical for voice and narrowband data.

Applications Across Fleet, Public Safety and Smart Infrastructure

YAGEO positions this series for public safety vehicles, construction and utility fleets, transport and logistics operations and emerging connected vehicle platforms. The ability to support multiple RF domains in a single enclosure reduces cabling, installation time and variant management. For telematics providers, this helps consolidate antennas while maintaining peak performance across cellular, Wi Fi, GNSS and LMR channels. For V2X and DSRC applications, the wide bandwidth and integrated LNA support stable positioning and reliable uplink performance during high mobility operation. The modular LMR options also allow one mechanical design to serve multiple agencies with different radio systems.
