Melexis Introduces MLX92344 Hall Switch with Four Output States Over Two Wires

Uploaded image Melexis has introduced the MLX92344 Hall-effect switch for automotive body electronics. The device supports up to four output states over a two-wire interface and is available in TSOT23-3L surface-mount and TO92-3L through-hole packages.

The MLX92344 is designed for applications including seat-track position sensing, electronic latches, charge-port monitoring, steering-column position sensing, automatic gear selectors, park locks, disconnect units, and seatbelt buckle systems.

Four Output States Over a Two-Wire Interface

The MLX92344 incorporates programmable magnetic operating and release thresholds together with programmable output current levels. The device supports up to four output states. Output current levels can typically be configured at 5mA, 10mA, 15mA, and 20mA within a programmable range of 3mA to 28mA.

According to Melexis, the device maintains compatibility with existing two-wire automotive interfaces and electronic control units.

Programmable Magnetic Thresholds

The MLX92344 stores switching thresholds, output current levels, diagnostic settings, and output-state configuration in on-chip non-volatile memory. The device supports temperature compensation for both Neodymium and Ferrite magnets. Melexis also offers variants incorporating Integrated Magnetic Concentrator technology for lateral magnetic field detection.

Automotive Specifications

The MLX92344 operates from 2.7V to 28V and supports a 32V absolute maximum rating. The device is specified for operation from -40°C to +150°C. Melexis states that the sensor is qualified to AEC-Q100 requirements and developed as an ASIL B SEooC device. Electrostatic discharge ratings include 8kV Human Body Model protection and 15kV system-level protection.

Available Now

The MLX92344 is available now in TSOT23-3L and TO92-3L package options.
