Diodes Incorporated has introduced the PI3DPX1225A, a USB Type-C active crossbar mux and linear ReDriver supporting USB 3.2 Gen 2 and DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR13.5.
According to Diodes, the device can be configured to carry USB 3.2 signals, USB alongside two DisplayPort lanes, or four DisplayPort lanes through a USB Type-C connector. The PI3DPX1225A supports data rates of up to 13.5Gbps.
USB-C Signal Routing
The PI3DPX1225A is a 6:4 active crossbar mux that routes USB 3.2 and DisplayPort signals to the USB Type-C connector. The device also multiplexes the DisplayPort AUX channels.
Receiver equalization, flat gain, and output swing are programmable through the I²C interface. According to Diodes, these settings allow signal performance to be adjusted for different PCB layouts and physical media.
The company also states that the linear ReDriver supports DisplayPort Transparent Link Training without depending on the AUX-channel listener.
Three Operating Modes
The PI3DPX1225A supports three operating modes. These include one lane of USB 3.2 Gen 2, one lane of USB 3.2 together with two DisplayPort channels, or four DisplayPort channels.
According to Diodes, the device is designed to extend PCB trace lengths while reducing signal latency. Auto power-saving modes are available for both USB and DisplayPort operation.
Package and Availability
The PI3DPX1225A is supplied in a 40-pin W-QFN6040 package measuring 4mm × 6mm.
Diodes also offers an automotive-qualified version manufactured in IATF 16949:2016 certified facilities with PPAP documentation support.
