Cincon Introduces CHM150 Medical DC-DC Converter Series with 2 MOPP Isolation

Uploaded image Cincon has introduced the CHM150 Series, a family of 150W isolated DC-DC converters for medical applications. The converters are housed in an industry-standard half-brick package and operate from a 2:1 input voltage range of 18-36 VDC. The series provides fully regulated single outputs of 12V, 15V, and 24V, and is designed for medical equipment requiring high isolation and compliance with IEC/UL 60601-1 safety requirements.

According to Cincon, the CHM150 Series provides 2 MOPP (Means of Patient Protection) with 5000Vac input-to-output isolation for a 250Vac working voltage. The converters also meet CF (Cardiac Floating) medical application requirements with leakage current below 10µA.

Thermal Performance and Protection Features

The CHM150 Series achieves efficiency of up to 91.5% and operates over a case temperature range from -40°C to +100°C using an aluminum baseplate designed for conduction cooling. The converters are also specified for operation at altitudes of up to 5,000m and have a no-load current consumption of 10mA.

Integrated protection features include over-temperature protection (OTP), over-current protection (OCP), over-voltage protection (OVP), and under-voltage lockout (UVLO). According to Cincon, the converters comply with EN 60601-1-2, EN 55032, and EN 55035 requirements covering EMC and EMS performance.

Medical Power Applications

The CHM150 Series is intended for medical imaging equipment, life science instruments, surgical tools, and patient monitoring systems. Remote On/Off control is provided as standard and is available in both positive and negative logic versions for system power sequencing.

Cincon states that the series has an MTBF of up to 1,725,000 hours for the 24V model, calculated using MIL-HDBK-217F.
