Skyworks has introduced the SKY6911x/2x family of NetSync network synchronizers for AI data centers and other time-sensitive communications infrastructure. The new devices combine network synchronization, ultra-low jitter clock generation, and AccuTime synchronization software in a single IC, supporting applications requiring IEEE 1588 Precision Time Protocol (PTP), Synchronous Ethernet, and GNSS-based timing.
The family also supports direct clocking of 224G and 448G SerDes interfaces used in 800G and 1.6T networking platforms.

The SKY6911x/2x family combines network synchronization, jitter attenuation, and clock generation in a single device. According to Skyworks, this removes the need for separate synchronization and clocking devices, while working with the company's AccuTime software to simplify synchronization system design.
The devices support IEEE 1588 PTP, ITU-T compliant Synchronous Ethernet wander filtering, and the ability to lock to GNSS receiver clock outputs. Skyworks' DSPLL and MultiSynth technologies are also incorporated to support different network topologies and clock architectures.
Time-of-Day and AccuTime Support
The NetSync family includes high-resolution time-of-day counters, timestamping, multiple physical-layer interfaces, and support for a range of time encoding protocols. This allows the devices to interface with third-party clocks, switches, and PHYs, while also supporting time distribution across existing backplane designs.
The devices are supported by Skyworks' AccuTime synchronization software, which includes an IEEE 1588 protocol stack, time-recovery servo, synchronization manager, oscillator holdover support, and the AccuTime Assistant graphical configuration tool.
