Rohde and Schwarz has introduced the R&S MXO-K333, a software option for its MXO series oscilloscopes. Available for the MXO 3, MXO 4, MXO 5, and MXO 5C, the software adds three-phase power analysis while keeping captured voltage and current waveforms visible during measurement.
The software is intended for testing and debugging three-phase AC systems, including drives, inverters, and power electronics.
Power Measurements with Waveform Visibility
The R&S MXO-K333 allows engineers to view three-phase power measurements alongside the underlying voltage and current waveforms on the same instrument. This makes it possible to examine power values together with switching events, transients, control signals, and communication activity during development and debugging.
Other oscilloscope functions remain available during analysis, including mathematical functions, spectrum analysis, automated measurements, tracking functions, advanced triggering, and protocol decoding.
Three-Phase Analysis
A setup wizard assigns oscilloscope channels to the voltage and current probes used for the measurement and verifies the wiring before analysis begins. Supported configurations include 2V2A, 3V3A, and 3VN3A for two-wire, three-wire, and four-wire systems.
The software provides cycle-by-cycle calculations for RMS voltage and current, active power, reactive power, total power, and power factor. Three-phase efficiency can also be calculated by defining the system input and output configuration.
Additional analysis functions include phasor diagrams, harmonic analysis, and total harmonic distortion (THD) measurements compliant with IEC 61000-3-2 and MIL-STD-1399.
Available Across the MXO Family
The R&S MXO-K333 software option is available for all four-channel and eight-channel models in the R&S MXO 3, R&S MXO 4, R&S MXO 5, and R&S MXO 5C oscilloscope families. According to Rohde & Schwarz, combining three-phase power analysis with the oscilloscope's existing debugging capabilities allows engineers to investigate power-related events without moving to a separate power analyzer.
The R&S MXO-K333 three-phase power analysis software is available now from Rohde & Schwarz.
