TDK-Lambda has introduced the CCGS series, a range of 15 W and 30 W isolated DC-DC converters packaged as complete modules that do not require external components. The series is aimed at industrial systems where reducing design work around the converter itself can simplify both layout and installation.
The CCGS series is a family of isolated DC-DC converters used to generate regulated DC rails from industrial supply voltages. In a typical system, the module sits on a control board or within a cabinet, providing power to sensors, controllers, or communication hardware without additional filtering or support circuitry.
Fully Integrated Converter Approach
The CCGS modules bring input filtering, isolation, and regulation into a single package. That changes how the surrounding power stage is handled during design. Instead of selecting external components and validating the converter stage at board level, the module can be dropped into the design with minimal additional work. Layout is more predictable, and the amount of tuning required during development is reduced. This also carries through to manufacturing. With fewer external parts, there are fewer placements and fewer variables between builds.
Input Range And Output Options
The 15 W CCGS15 models support input ranges of 9 to 36 V or 18 to 76 V, with safety certification applied to the higher range. The 30 W versions are certified across both input ranges.
Output options include 3.3 V, 5 V, 12 V, and 15 V single rails, along with ±12 V and ±15 V configurations. Output voltage can be adjusted via an onboard potentiometer, allowing small changes without selecting a different part. Efficiency is specified between 84 and 87 percent depending on the model. The converters operate from -20 to 70 °C using natural convection cooling.
Mechanical Formats And Installation
The series is offered in several formats depending on how the system is built. The chassis-mount version measures 52 by 93 by 23.5 mm and uses screw terminals with captive screws. A DIN-rail version is also available, slightly taller to accommodate the mounting clip. There is also an option with JST push-on connectors for input and output wiring. These variations allow the same converter platform to be used across panel-based and board-level installations without redesigning the power stage.
Control And Certification
The converters include a remote on and off function, allowing the output to be controlled as part of system sequencing or maintenance procedures. A status LED provides a simple indication that output power is present. The CCGS series is certified to IEC, EN, UL, and CSA 62368-1 and is rated for operation at altitudes up to 5000 meters. Isolation ratings are specified at 1500 Vdc from input to output and input to chassis, and 1000 Vdc from output to chassis.
Applications include semiconductor manufacturing equipment, factory automation, robotics, railway systems, test and measurement, and communications infrastructure.
