KYOCERA AVX Adds 0201 Size to KGU RF MLCC Series

Uploaded image KYOCERA AVX has added a new ultraminiature 0201 case size to its KGU Series of ultra-low-ESR C0G (NP0) RF multilayer ceramic chip capacitors (MLCCs), expanding the range for high-frequency wireless and communications systems.

The new 0201 version joins 01005, 0402, 0603 and 0805 sizes already available in the series. KGU capacitors combine low ESR, high Q and high self-resonant frequencies with a stable Class I dielectric for use in RF matching, filtering, tuning, coupling and DC blocking circuits.

Across the expanded KGU range, voltage ratings extend from 6.3 V to 250 V and capacitance values from 0.1 pF to 100 pF, with tolerances available down to ±0.05 pF.

Stable C0G Dielectric for RF Circuits

The KGU Series uses C0G (NP0) ceramic dielectrics with a temperature coefficient of capacitance of 0 ±30 ppm/°C and virtually zero voltage coefficient. The dielectric is also inherently resistant to ageing and microphonics.

For high-frequency circuits, the capacitors offer ultra-low equivalent series resistance alongside high Q, high power handling and high self-resonant frequencies. These characteristics support applications including matching and filter networks, tuning circuits and high-Q frequency sources.

The capacitors use base metal electrodes made from tin/nickel-plated copper, providing high electrical conductivity and solderability.

Five Sizes from 01005 to 0805

With the addition of the new 0201 version, the KGU Series now covers five miniature and ultraminiature EIA chip sizes from 01005 through to 0805.

The capacitors operate from -55°C to +125°C and are RoHS compliant. Standard tape-and-reel packaging is available for automated PCB assembly.

KYOCERA AVX is targeting the expanded series at subscriber wireless devices, 802.11 Wi-Fi networks, cellular base stations, broadband wireless platforms, satellite communications and public safety radio systems.
