Rohde & Schwarz Introduces HMP5050 Five-Channel DC Power Supply

The new 560 W instrument offers five independent channels, low residual ripple and the ability to connect multiple power supplies for automated testing.

1.pngRohde & Schwarz has introduced the R&S HMP5050, a new five-channel DC power supply that expands its existing HMP series. The instrument provides greater channel and power density, with improved residual ripple of less than 350 µV RMS, and is designed for electronics development and automated production testing.

The HMP5050 provides five output channels with up to 180 W per channel and a maximum total output power of 560 W. Each channel can be configured for up to 15 A and 35 V, allowing the instrument to supply multiple components and circuits at the same time.

Configurable Outputs for Higher Voltage and Current

The five channels can operate independently or be connected together to meet different power requirements. For higher voltages, channels can be connected in series, while parallel connections allow higher currents to be delivered.

For applications requiring greater total power or more output channels, several HMP5050 instruments can also be connected and controlled centrally. The system supports configurations of up to 64 channels, with connected instruments synchronizing automatically.

Multichannel Power for Automated Testing

Each channel remains individually accessible for control and analysis, even when multiple instruments are connected. The HMP5050 is intended for automated production test systems and laboratory applications requiring several independently controlled DC outputs.

Rohde & Schwarz will demonstrate the new power supply at electronica 2026 in Munich from November 10 to 13, showing how it can supply multiple circuits and how its channels can be interconnected.

The HMP5050 is scheduled for commercial launch in spring 2027, when it will join the existing HMP2000 and HMP4000 series.
