Texas Instruments Introduces TICS100MOD Ethernet Module and TIOM2212 IO-Link Master
The new communications module supports EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP and Profinet on a single hardware platform, while the dual-channel IO-Link master connects sensors and actuators to industrial networks.
Texas Instruments (TI) has announced two new devices for factory automation, robotics and Industrial Internet of Things systems. The TICS100MOD multiprotocol communications system-on-module (SoM) and TIOM2212 dual-channel IO-Link master expand TI's industrial communication portfolio, with software-programmable hardware and certified, production-ready software stacks.
The TICS100MOD supports multiple real-time Ethernet protocols on a single piece of hardware, while the TIOM2212 provides IO-Link connectivity between field devices and higher-level Industrial Ethernet networks.
TICS100MOD Multiprotocol Ethernet Module
Built on TI's AM2612 microcontroller (MCU) and DP83826AI Ethernet physical layer, the TICS100MOD supports EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP and Profinet on a single piece of hardware.
The SoM allows engineers to switch between the three protocols during boot time through a simple firmware update, without changing the hardware. It integrates two Arm Cortex-R5F cores and external memory, providing enough compute performance to support fully featured protocol stacks and factory automation applications.
TI provides an industrial communications software development kit (SDK) with certified, production-ready protocol stacks, application examples and development tools.
TIOM2212 Dual-Channel IO-Link Master
The TIOM2212 dual-channel IO-Link master connects IO-Link devices to higher-level Industrial Ethernet networks through a single platform.
With advanced analog integration and built-in protection features, the TIOM2212 supports data exchange between field devices. Compatible with TI's Sitara industrial networking system-on-chip (SoC) family and AM13Ex real-time MCUs through an integrated frame handler, the device reduces the complexity of connecting sensors and actuators to factory control systems.
The TIOM2212 also extends TI's existing IO-Link portfolio, which includes transceivers and digital output switches.
Preproduction quantities of the TIOM2212 are available now on TI.com, with the TICS100MOD SoM expected to become available by the end of 2026.
