Microchip and Delta Join Forces on SiC for Smarter Power Systems

Microchip and Delta partner to advance silicon carbide adoption in power systems for AI, automation, mobility, and green infrastructure.

Uploaded image Microchip Technology has signed a new partnership agreement with Delta Electronics to accelerate the use of silicon carbide (SiC) in next-generation power systems. The collaboration will centre on integrating Microchip’s mSiC product family into Delta’s designs, with a shared focus on reducing time to market and supporting sustainable innovation across several growing sectors.

As demand increases for smarter, more efficient power solutions, particularly in AI, electrified mobility and industrial automation, SiC is becoming a critical building block. Its wide-bandgap properties allow designers to build smaller, faster, and more energy-efficient systems without compromising performance.

“SiC is increasingly important in sustainable power solutions because of its wide-bandgap properties, which enable smaller and more efficient designs for high-voltage, high-power applications at a lower system cost,” said Clayton Pillion, vice president of Microchip’s high-power solutions business unit. “We look forward to forging an impactful path with Delta Electronics on innovating SiC solutions to meet the rising demand of the electrification of everything.”

Expanding SiC Across Critical Applications

Delta plans to apply Microchip’s SiC MOSFETs, diodes and gate drivers across its product lines, targeting high-growth areas like mobility, AI servers, industrial drives and infrastructure. Alongside early access to samples, the agreement also includes technical support, design collaboration, and visibility into upcoming developments from both sides.

Delta already has a strong foothold in high-efficiency power systems and offers a portfolio of rugged SiC modules engineered for thermal performance and long-term reliability. These modules are built using silver sintering, copper-clip packaging and automotive-grade ceramic substrates, making them ideal for traction inverters, harsh environments and compact system designs.

A Strategic Fit for Scalable Power

The partnership plays to each company’s strengths: Microchip brings decades of wide bandgap experience, while Delta contributes deep application knowledge and system-level integration. Together, they aim to speed up deployment of energy-saving platforms that meet the real-world demands of modern electrification.
