Amphenol Expands Tru-Loc Connector Series with New 4-Way Options

Amphenol introduces 4-way Tru-Loc connectors, combining rugged sealing, RADSOK technology, and compact design for automotive and industrial applications.

Uploaded image Amphenol Industrial has extended its Tru-Loc® connector line with new 4-way plug and receptacle versions, rounding out a series already known for its ability to survive in places where many connectors fail. Diesel engine covers, oil-cooled motors, and heavy machinery housings all expose connectors to high heat, vibration, and oil. The Tru-Loc family was designed for exactly these conditions.

At the core is Amphenol’s RADSOK® contact system. Unlike conventional pin-and-socket designs, it spreads current across more surface area, reducing power loss and keeping mating forces low. For engineers, that translates into connections that are easier to assemble and less likely to suffer from thermal stress over time.

Why Add a 4-Way?

Until now the series was available in 2- and 6-way options. Adding a 4-way may sound like a small change, but it answers a common design need: not every assembly has room for six circuits, and splitting pairs of two can add extra housings and leak paths. A dedicated 4-way option lets designers simplify layouts and maintain IP67 sealing without compromise.

The new version also brings a revised latch for secure retention and a tougher joint seal. In practice, that means fewer worries about vibration loosening the connector or oil seeping in after long service cycles.

Performance Where It Counts

The Tru-Loc 4-way carries up to 13 A per contact, withstands 1600 Vac RMS, and keeps insulation resistance above 100 MΩ. It is rated for vibration up to 32 Grms and temperatures from -40°C to 150°C, with seals designed to resist continuous fuel and oil exposure. Mating force stays below 70 N, which makes a difference during installation in tight spaces or during scheduled maintenance.

Supporting Next-Generation Powertrains

As powertrains become more electrified and sensors migrate into harsher operating zones, connectors need to be both compact and resilient. By adding a 4-way option, Amphenol has given engineers a middle ground between its smallest and largest Tru-Loc formats, helping to cut complexity while maintaining the ruggedness that the series is known for.
