Kyocera AVX Expands MLCC Range with KGP Series for High-Frequency Designs

Kyocera AVX’s KGP Series stacked MLCCs deliver higher capacitance, low ESR/ESL, and strong reliability for industrial and high-frequency designs.

Uploaded image Kyocera AVX has added a new series of stacked multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) to its portfolio. Called the KGP Series, these devices are aimed at engineers dealing with high-frequency or high-stress designs, particularly in industrial systems, renewable energy equipment, and downhole oil and gas electronics.

Stacked MLCCs are already common in compact power and control circuits, but Kyocera AVX has pushed the concept further. By stacking multiple chips vertically, the KGP Series delivers more capacitance in the same footprint as a standard part. For anyone trying to keep board space tight without losing performance, that can make layout decisions a lot easier. The company also integrates metal lead frames, which help absorb mechanical and thermal stress. A small detail, but one that can make a big difference in long-term reliability.

Wide Specification Range

The series covers five EIA case sizes from 1210 to 2225 and two stack heights, with total thickness between 3.40mm and 6.95mm. Engineers can specify “J” or “L” leads depending on how they prefer to mount them. Dielectric options include C0G, X7R, and X7T, which balance stability and capacitance differently depending on the application.

Voltage ratings stretch from 50V to 1,500V, while capacitance values range from 10nF up to 47µF, with tolerance levels of ±10% or ±20%. The parts operate from -55°C to +125°C, giving them headroom for both conventional and harsh environments. Electrical behaviour is just as important. The KGP Series maintains low equivalent series resistance (ESR) and equivalent series inductance (ESL), which helps control noise and improve signal integrity. Every unit is tested for vibration, bending, dielectric strength, humidity, and thermal cycling to confirm reliability in real conditions.

Supporting Long-Term Design Goals

Each capacitor is built without lead or cadmium, making the range fully RoHS compliant. That’s not only good for compliance but also fits the wider sustainability goals many manufacturers are chasing. The balance between size, electrical performance, and durability gives these capacitors a broad appeal across modern industrial hardware.

For engineers designing compact, high-frequency systems, the KGP Series offers a simple way to add capacitance, cut noise, and protect long-term reliability, all without a major board redesign.
