XP Power AMF60 Brings 60W To Medical Wall Adapters

XP Power’s AMF60 series adds 60W wall-mount AC-DC adapters for medical, home healthcare, industrial, and ITE systems, with IP42 protection, 2 x MOPP isolation, global input, and low standby power.

Uploaded image XP Power has added the AMF60 series to its external power supply range, giving medical, home healthcare, and industrial equipment designers a 60W wall-mount AC-DC adapter in a sealed plugtop format. The series is intended for equipment that needs an external supply but does not have much room for a separate desktop adapter. It also brings IP42 enclosure protection, medical safety approvals, and low no-load power consumption into the same unit. The AMF60 series is a 60W wall-mount AC-DC power supply used to provide regulated DC power from a wide AC mains input for medical, healthcare, and industrial electronic equipment. It is available with 12V, 15V, 19V, and 24VDC outputs, covering common rails used in patient monitoring, respiratory care, diagnostic equipment, imaging systems, and test and measurement hardware. In those systems, the adapter sits outside the main enclosure and supplies the low-voltage DC input used by the equipment’s internal power architecture.

Wall-Mount Power For 60W Equipment

The AMF60 moves a 60W external supply into a wall-mount format, which is useful where a desktop brick would take up too much space or add more loose cabling around the equipment. That can be a practical issue in home healthcare devices, bench instruments, mobile diagnostic systems, and equipment used close to bedsides or workstations. The IP42-rated enclosure gives the adapter protection against limited dust and moisture ingress. It doesn't make the unit a harsh-environment power supply but it adds a useful layer of protection for equipment that may be handled frequently or used outside a controlled lab setting. The supply is convection cooled so it runs without a fan which keeps operation silent and removes a mechanical wear point from the adapter.

Medical Isolation And BF Application Support

XP Power has designed the AMF60 series for both medical and ITE safety requirements. The supply complies with ANSI/AAMI ES60601-1, EN60601-1, EN60601-1-11, IEC60601-1, IEC60601-1-11, and UL/IEC/EN62368-1. For medical systems, the more specific integration detail is the isolation structure. The adapters use Class II construction, reinforced insulation, and 2 x MOPP isolation, with 4000VAC input-to-output isolation. Patient leakage current is specified at 90µA, which supports use in BF-rated medical applications. Those figures are important because the external adapter is part of the finished system’s safety path. If the power supply cannot meet the required isolation and leakage limits, the rest of the equipment design becomes harder to qualify.

Efficiency And EMC Details

The AMF60 meets DOE Level VI energy efficiency requirements and is ready for DOE Level VII. It also complies with EU2019/1782 for external power supplies, with no-load power consumption below 0.15W. That's relevant for healthcare and industrial equipment that may stay plugged in for long periods, even when the main system is idle. The input range is 80 to 264VAC, so the same adapter family can be used across common global mains supplies. XP Power also specifies Class B conducted and radiated emissions compliance to EN55032 and EN55011. In some systems, that can reduce the need for external EMC filtering, depending on the wider equipment design and layout. Output ripple and noise are specified at 200mV pk-pk, and the adapters include overvoltage and overload protection with auto-recovery.

Regional Plug Options And Availability

The AMF60 series supports interchangeable AC input plugs for North America, Europe, the UK, and China. This allows the same adapter platform to be configured for different regional shipments, rather than creating separate external power arrangements for each market. Plugs can also be supplied separately where required. The operating temperature range is 0 to +60°C, and XP Power lists an MTBF of 200,000 hours to MIL-HDBK-217F. The AMF60 series is available through Avnet Abacus, DigiKey, Distrelec, Farnell, Mouser, RS, TME, approved regional distributors, or directly from XP Power. The series is supplied with a three-year warranty.
