Littelfuse Adds 14kA Surface-Mount Fuse for 48VDC Systems

Littelfuse has introduced the NANO² 708 Series surface-mount fuse for 48VDC power systems. The fuse provides a 14,000A interrupting rating at 80VDC, supports current ratings from 60A to 200A, and is designed for high-current power distribution applications.

Uploaded image Littelfuse has introduced the NANO² 708 Series, a surface-mount fuse for 48VDC power systems. The device supports current ratings from 60A to 200A and carries a 14,000A interrupting rating at 80VDC in a compact SMD package.

The NANO² 708 Series is a supplemental overcurrent protection fuse used in high-current power distribution systems. The series is intended for applications including power distribution units, power shelves, battery backup units, and power supply units used in data center infrastructure and other high-power electronic equipment.

14kA Interrupting Rating in an SMD Package

The 708 Series is the first Littelfuse surface-mount fuse to offer a 14,000A interrupting rating at 80VDC. According to the company, this level of interruption capability has traditionally been associated with larger through-hole or bolt-down fuse formats. The fuse is designed for circuits where high fault-current conditions may occur. Littelfuse specifies the device for use in 48VDC power architectures that require both high current handling and high interrupting capability.

The series combines its interrupting rating with a surface-mount construction, allowing the device to be integrated into automated PCB assembly processes.

60A to 200A Current Ratings

The NANO² 708 Series is available with current ratings ranging from 60A to 200A. The devices are specified for high-current power distribution applications where board space remains limited despite increasing power requirements. Littelfuse also specifies high pulse resistance and compliance with global safety standards for the series.

The fuse joins the company's broader portfolio of protection products for 48VDC systems, alongside existing 456, 871, and 881 Series devices.

Applications in 48VDC Power Systems

The 708 Series is intended for 48VDC power architectures used in AI servers, hyperscale data centers, networking equipment, renewable energy systems, and battery management systems.

Within data center infrastructure, the devices can be deployed in power distribution units, battery backup units, power shelves, and power supply assemblies.

The fuse is supplied in tape-and-reel packaging for automated assembly and is available in quantities of 500 pieces.
