Advanced Energy Introduces 1100 W Half-Brick PFC Module

Advanced Energy has launched the AIH03ZPFC, a 1100 W half-brick PFC module with 97.3% peak efficiency, PMBus control, and a regulated 390 VDC output.

Uploaded image Advanced Energy has introduced the AIH03ZPFC, a 1100 W board-mounted power factor correction (PFC) module. The module is designed for industrial, medical, defense, and telecommunications systems where size, thermal performance, and efficiency are critical.

Featuring a regulated, non-isolated 390 VDC output, the module delivers up to 97.3% peak efficiency. According to Advanced Energy, the AIH03ZPFC also integrates internal inrush limiting and digital PMBus control and monitoring within a standard half-brick form factor.

Integrated PFC in a Half-Brick Form Factor

The AIH03ZPFC combines power factor correction, internal inrush limiting, and digital PMBus control and monitoring in a board-mounted half-brick module. Auxiliary power support enables external housekeeping functions while maintaining a compact footprint. The module can be deployed as a standalone PFC stage or paired with downstream DC-DC converters.

High Efficiency and Universal AC Input

The AIH03ZPFC operates from 85 VAC to 264 VAC and provides a regulated 390 VDC output. The module delivers up to 97.3% peak efficiency. A unity power factor across the 85 to 264 VAC input range and no power derating under low-input-voltage conditions simplify compliance and maximize usable power.

Thermal Performance and Mechanical Design

Baseplate contact cooling supports operation from -20°C to +100°C, with startup as low as -40°C. The encapsulated module uses a standard 2.4 × 2.3 in (61 × 58.4 mm) half-brick form factor with an installed height of 0.52 in (13.3 mm). The module is compatible with standard heatsinks and thermal solutions.

Availability

The AIH03ZPFC is available now. Datasheets and additional technical information are available from Advanced Energy.

Technology Overview

Power factor correction (PFC) modules improve the input power factor of AC-powered systems while reducing harmonic distortion and providing a stable high-voltage DC bus for downstream converters. Integrating functions such as inrush current limiting, monitoring, and digital control into a single module can reduce component count and simplify the design of high-density power supplies.
