YAGEO Introduces PK Series Metal Current Sense Resistors for High-Power Applications

YAGEO has launched the PK Series metal current sense resistors, offering up to 5 W power ratings, resistance values down to 0.5 mΩ and AEC-Q200 qualification for automotive and industrial applications.

Uploaded image YAGEO has expanded its current sensing portfolio with the PK Series, a family of two-terminal metal current sense resistors designed for high-power applications. Available in 1206 and 2512 case sizes, the series combines power ratings of up to 5 W with resistance values as low as 0.5 mΩ.

The resistors are intended for applications requiring accurate current measurement under high-current operating conditions, including AI servers, automotive electronics, power systems and alternative energy equipment.

Designed for High Current Operation

The PK Series is available in 1206 and 2512 case sizes with power ratings from 2 W to 5 W. Resistance values range from 0.5 mΩ to 20 mΩ, while the operating temperature range is -55°C to 170°C. Temperature coefficient options of 50 ppm/°C and 100 ppm/°C are available.

YAGEO says the metal plate construction improves heat dissipation under high-current conditions. The company also states that the resistors can deliver up to 5 W while maintaining a maximum surface temperature of 100°C.

Automotive and Industrial Applications

The PK Series is AEC-Q200 qualified and incorporates an anti-sulfuration design for improved reliability in sulfur-containing environments. According to YAGEO, the resistors are suitable for AI servers, automotive electronics, alternative energy systems and industrial power equipment where accurate current sensing and thermal performance are required.

The PK Series current sense resistors are available now from YAGEO.

Technology Overview

Current sense resistors generate a small voltage proportional to the current flowing through them, allowing electronic systems to monitor current, measure power consumption and detect overload conditions. Low-resistance metal current sense resistors minimise power loss while maintaining measurement accuracy in high-current applications.
