onsemi Launches Elite Pairing Studio for SiC Power Design

onsemi has introduced Elite Pairing Studio, an online environment for evaluating SiC MOSFET and gate driver combinations. The platform provides waveform analysis, switching-loss calculations, and integration with PLECS and Elite Power Simulator workflows.

Uploaded image onsemi has released Elite Pairing Studio, an online tool for evaluating combinations of silicon carbide (SiC) MOSFETs and gate drivers. The platform focuses on the interaction between the two devices and presents switching behavior, waveform data, and loss calculations within a browser-based environment.

The software targets power conversion designs used in applications such as AI data centers, electric vehicles, industrial equipment, and electrification infrastructure. It forms part of onsemi's Elite simulation ecosystem and can be used before moving designs into system-level analysis.

Elite Pairing Studio is a design and simulation environment for examining how onsemi SiC MOSFETs and gate drivers perform together within a switching stage. The tool generates recommended device pairings based on user-defined requirements and operating conditions.

Comparing SiC MOSFET And Gate Driver Combinations

The software evaluates multiple gate driver options against a selected SiC MOSFET and produces performance data for each pairing. Engineers can review the results side by side and compare operating characteristics before progressing to more detailed simulation work. Pairings are generated using calculation methods based on industry equations and performance models. According to onsemi, the underlying evaluation process is visible to users rather than operating as a closed recommendation engine. The platform runs through a secure workspace hosted on onsemi.com and stores projects within a private user environment.

Waveform Analysis And Switching Performance

Each pairing includes access to switching-related measurements and waveform data. Users can review switching timings, gate voltage waveforms, gate current waveforms, voltage overshoot margins, and switching energy losses. Turn-on and turn-off energy values are presented alongside interactive waveform plots. Engineers can inspect individual switching events and compare how different driver configurations affect the behavior of the selected SiC device. The software also provides data associated with operating margins and switching behavior that may influence later design decisions.

Interactive Design Environment

Results are displayed through an integrated waveform viewer that allows multiple pairings to be examined and compared within the same project. Rather than selecting devices from a catalog and moving immediately into system simulation, users can first review pairing behavior at the device level. This provides access to electrical performance data before building a broader power-stage model.

Additional onsemi technologies are expected to be added to the platform in future updates.

Path To System-Level Simulation

Projects created within Elite Pairing Studio can be transferred into PLECS-based simulation models and analyzed further using the onsemi Elite Power Simulator. This workflow links device-level pairing analysis with later investigations covering efficiency, losses, and thermal performance at the system level. The same pairing data can therefore be carried forward as designs move through development.

onsemi will demonstrate Elite Pairing Studio at PCIM Expo 2026 in Nuremberg, Germany, and the platform is available through the company's website.
