Infineon Introduces AIROC UWB TSL100 SoC for Ranging and Presence Detection

Infineon has introduced the AIROC UWB TSL100, a family of ultra-wideband SoCs combining ranging and smart presence detection on a single chip for automotive, consumer, and industrial applications, with support for CCC, FiRa, and Aliro standards.

Uploaded image Infineon Technologies has introduced the AIROC UWB TSL100, its first family of ultra-wideband (UWB) system-on-chip (SoC) devices for precise positioning and smart presence detection. The new family combines UWB ranging and sensing on a single chip and is designed for automotive, consumer, and industrial applications including digital keys, indoor navigation, asset tracking, and access control.

According to Infineon, the AIROC UWB TSL100 is built on a new architecture that reduces power consumption while supporting future UWB standards such as IEEE 802.15.4ab. The devices are also compliant with CCC, Aliro, and FiRa consortium standards.

Single-Chip Ranging and Sensing

The AIROC UWB TSL100 integrates ranging and sensing functions within a single device, removing the need for separate sensing subsystems in many applications. Infineon says the family is intended for systems requiring precise positioning together with secure presence detection. Automotive applications include CCC Digital Key™, NCAP-compliant in-cabin presence detection, kick sensing, and intrusion detection, while consumer and industrial applications include smart access, asset tracking, contactless payment, indoor navigation, and "find" applications.

The product family includes two variants. The TSL111A is qualified to AEC-Q100 for automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers, while the TSL111C is intended for consumer and industrial designs.

Low-Power UWB Architecture

According to Infineon, the AIROC UWB TSL100 has been developed for applications where low power consumption, secure ranging, and reliable operation in non-line-of-sight conditions are important design requirements.

The company states that the architecture provides more than two years of coin-cell battery life in CCC ranging schemes for key fobs. A dedicated low-power mode reduces current consumption by more than 50 percent.

Infineon also says the device supports the highest FiRa and CCC security level of 48-bit for challenging non-line-of-sight scenarios, including situations where direct signal paths are significantly weaker than reflected paths.

Development Support

Engineering sample kits for the AIROC UWB TSL100 are available on request. According to Infineon, the kits support system-level evaluation of ranging accuracy, sensing coverage, and power consumption to assist hardware and software development.
